In July 1778, George Rogers Clark a Liutenant Colonel in virginia went to Vincennes with 175 soldiers. Then in July they captured the british town of Vincennes in present day Indiana. During Clarks absence in december, British troops under Henry Hamiltons command recaptured Vincennes. Clark vowed to get it back. In February 1779, after marching for days through countrysides floody with icy waters, Clark and his troops surprises the British, forcing Hamilton to surrender. Clarks victory at Vincennes strengthened the American position in the west.

Bernardo de Galvez became governor of the Spain territory of Lousianna in 1777. He loaned thousands of dollars to America and open the port of New Orleans. He organized ammunition to George Rogers Clark army. In1779 Spain declared war on Brittain. in May 1781 he took pensacola, these victories opened supply line for military goods from Spain, France, Cuba, and Mexico.

In late 1778 General Henry Clinton sent 3,500 British troops from New York to Savannah. They occupied the city and ran most of the state. Clinton went south with his army in early 1780 to attack the port of Charles town, South Carolina. Charles Town surrendered in May and British took thousands of prisioners. It was the worst American defeat of war ever. Clinton went back to New York and left General Charles Cornwallis in charge of British forces in the south. The Continental Congress sent forces under General Haratio Gates to face Cornwallis. The both met at Camden, South Carolina, in August,1780. The British won, however Cornwallis found out that he and his crew couldn't manage the area he required. ''RETARD!!!!!!''
